DoorPact ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our platform at doorpact.com and our mobile applications (collectively, the "Service").

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

  • Account Information: Name, email address, and password when you create an account.
  • Profile Information: Avatar photo, phone number, and display name.
  • Property Information: Property names, addresses, descriptions, photos, and house rules you add to the platform.
  • Financial Information: Expense records, budget data, and receipt images you upload. Payment processing is handled by Stripe — we do not store your credit card details.
  • Communications: Messages sent through property chat, guest book entries, and contact form submissions.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage Data: Pages visited, features used, timestamps, and interaction patterns.
  • Device Information: Browser type, operating system, device type, and screen resolution.
  • Log Data: IP address, access times, and referring URLs.

1.3 Information From Third Parties

  • OAuth Providers: If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email, and profile picture as authorized by you.
  • Payment Processor: Stripe provides us with transaction confirmations and subscription status — not your full payment details.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
  • Process your subscription payments through Stripe.
  • Send transactional emails (invitations, password resets, booking confirmations).
  • Enable collaboration features like shared calendars, task assignments, and property chat.
  • Generate property-level financial reports and expense tracking visible to property members.
  • Respond to your support requests and feedback.
  • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues and security threats.

3. How We Share Your Information

3.1 With Other Property Members

When you join a property, other members of that property can see your name, avatar, role, and any content you contribute (messages, tasks, expenses, photos, etc.). This shared visibility is core to how DoorPact works as a collaborative platform.

3.2 With Service Providers

We share information with trusted third parties that help us operate the Service:

  • Cloudflare: Hosting, content delivery, and data storage.
  • Stripe: Payment processing and subscription management.
  • Email Provider: Sending transactional and notification emails.

3.3 For Legal Reasons

We may disclose your information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of DoorPact, our users, or the public.

3.4 We Do Not Sell Your Data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Cloudflare's global network using their D1 database and R2 object storage services. We implement industry-standard security measures including:

  • Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS).
  • Secure password hashing (bcrypt).
  • HTTP-only, secure cookies for authentication tokens.
  • Role-based access controls within properties.

While we take reasonable measures to protect your information, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure.

5. Your Rights and Choices

  • Access and Update: You can view and update your profile information at any time through your account settings.
  • Delete Account: You can request account deletion by contacting us at support@doorpact.com. We will delete your account and personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
  • Notification Preferences: You can control email, in-app, and push notification preferences in your property settings.
  • Data Export: You can request a copy of your personal data by contacting us.

6. Cookies and Tracking

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. These are strictly necessary for the Service to function and cannot be disabled. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics tracking cookies.

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
